MMA has long provided Hollywood with ready-made action figures. Randy Couture, Ronda Rousey and Michael Bisping are just a few who have moved from the cage to the big screen.

It is a natural transition. Fighters bring physical presence, familiar faces and a built-in fanbase, especially when the role calls for someone who looks dangerous before they even speak.

Now Alex Pereira appears to be following that same path. The UFC star’s first major film trailer has dropped, giving fans an early look at him stepping into the role of a villain.

Tuesday’s release of the Onslaught trailer offered the first proper look at Pereira as ‘The Butcher’, a role he was first linked to back in October 2024.

The A24 action-horror film is directed by Adam Wingard, known for Godzilla vs. Kong and its sequel, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story follows Adria Arjona’s character, a mother forced to protect her family after a threat escapes from a secret military base.

The cast also features Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, Michael Biehn and Reginald VelJohnson, with the film set to hit cinemas on September 4.

Even with limited screen time in the trailer, Pereira made an impression. One fan wrote on X: “Poatan’s taking over Hollywood now too, man. CHAMA on the big screen and September 4 can’t come soon enough.”

Another joked: “If he doesn’t kill someone with a left hook it’s not historically accurate.”

“Wow, a movie star in the making and soon to be crowned the UFC heavyweight champion of the world at the White House,” a third user stated.

That last comment highlights the timing. The trailer dropped just days before UFC Freedom 250, where Pereira is set to face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title on June 14.
