A move to the Premier League is still likely for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare with reports suggesting Nottingham Forest would have no qualms about meeting the Ivorian’s £32 million asking price.

Over the last three years or so, you’d struggle to find a single Premier League team who have not been linked with the former Toulouse enforcer at one point or another.

Ibrahim Sangare turned down both Southampton and Everton back in 2020, according to his agent’s brother, the former Dutch international Kiki Musampa.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, West Ham, Liverpool and even Manchester United were mentioned back in 2022 as well. Now, it is Nottingham Forest with their finger on the trigger.

Nottingham Forest keen on PSV star Ibrahim Sangare

The Eindhovens Dagblad website reports that Forest would have few qualms about stumping up £32 million for one of the most imposing and complete midfielders in Dutch football. Forest have not yet submitted an official bid. But talks are very much ongoing between the two-time European champions and Sangare’s camp.

Sangare is keen on taking a step up the footballing ladder. A move to the Premier League is considered more likely than not at this stage too, although it remains to be seen if the 6ft 3ins giant has any reservations about joining a Forest side who only narrowly avoided relegation in 2022/23.

“He is the king of PSV,” club legend Aad De Mos said back in 2022.

“Sangare is not only suitable for (a club like) Leicester. He can also easily join an even higher club. He can easily play at Tottenham and certainly also at Arsenal.

“Sangare is a great player. I think 35 million euros is a good price. He would be first on the team sheet for any of those teams (Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs).

“You need someone like that, who takes the ball and always puts the boot in. And, lately, he has also become dangerous in the opposition penalty area.”

Sangare scored five times in 29 Eredivisie appearances in 2022/23. He could form a formidable partnership with Danilo at the heart of Forest’s midfield.
