Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Eric Dier has been ‘very good’ for Tottenham under Antonio Conte, as he told talkSPORT.

The former midfielder added that it’s ‘crazy to say it’ but Spurs have missed their 28-year-old defender during his time on the sidelines.

Spurs have lost three Premier League games on the bounce – and the last two – their defeats against Southampton and Wolves, they were lucky just to concede five.

During those matches, there has been a lack of organisation, defensive awareness, composure and just the pure basics to defending.

O’Hara hasn’t been happy about what he has seen and he thinks Dier has seemingly been a bigger miss, as a result.

“The player we are missing the most, and it’s crazy to say it, is Eric Dier,” said O’Hara. “When Conte has come in, he has been revived and he has been good.

“He has played in the middle of a three, where he gets protected a little because he can get done for pace.

“But, in terms of his performance ever since Conte has come in, I thought Eric Dier has been actually very good.

“At least he talks and he can organise. I look at the backline against Wolves and Southampton, there is no organisation or talk.”

It could be argued that Dier has probably been Tottenham’s best defensive player, not only under Conte, but also the now-sacked, Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

In truth, whilst the £4 million Spurs man (BBC Sport) is crucial to the north London club, it’s not much to shout about because everything around him has been pretty useless.

Either way, these next few months and then the summer itself is very crucial to where the club is heading in the long run.

There are those who fear that Conte won’t be at the club, but if he is backed during the summer transfer market, then they can leave the Italian to work his magic and he has always proved that he can.
