Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is stunned by the speculation about Raheem Sterling potentially joining Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been reported by The Telegraph that Manchester City could offer the England winger to Spurs in an attempt to lower the asking price for Harry Kane.

Kane looks very much like he may be on the move this summer but it would cost City – or anyone else – a minimum of nine figures.

Sterling scored 14 goals and set up another 12 in all competitions in helping Pep Guardiola’s side to a Champions League final this past season.

At 26, he still hasn’t even hit the prime of his career yet and with Tottenham set to compete in the Europa Conference League, Liverpool legend Carragher believes that the Three Lions star – who has two goals in three Euro 2020 games – is well above a move to North London at this moment in time.

He wrote in The Telegraph: “I can’t believe I have read some reports suggesting he could be a makeweight in a deal to take Kane to City. With respect, do people think Sterling is at a point in his career where he would join Spurs? Are they serious? If he was available, top Champions League clubs would be queuing up for him.”

Is Raheem Sterling joining Tottenham?

Two words: probably not.

The Telegraph has already reported that the player himself isn’t keen on a switch to the Lilywhites.

And that’s fair enough because not only are Tottenham in the Europa Conference League, staring down the barrel of a Kane-less future, but they haven’t even got a manager.

Sterling, despite the idea that his stock is falling, won’t be the first player to find himself uninterested in a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window.
